Sunny Sussex not far from the sea

Today, having some time to myself, and still feeling a little below par still from my recent bout of treatment, I thought I'd go and cover a couple of the churches on the Romney Marshes that I haven't so far researched. Namely Ruckinge and Newchurch.

Well, that was my intention. However, the land that I took ended in a 'Road Closed' sign, and for me to get round the other side of the huge hole dug out of the road, would have meant a proportionally enormous detour. And to be honest, I couldn't be bothered.

So Twinkle and I headed for the tiny parish of East Guldeford, just over the Kent Ditch and into East Sussex.Tiny is a bit of an understatement. There's the beautiful little church, less than 10 houses, and a small complex at Salts Farm, which houses a garden centre, a couple of small businesses and a cafe.

I lunched at the cafe, which is spotless and the food and drinks are very good. At first it looks a little expensive, but it's one of those places where you order a simple sandwich, and it comes up with a salad and crisps overflowing the plate. My coffee was very, very good.

The nice people there allowed me to leave my motorcycle there, whilst I wandered over to find the delightful church. That was a boon, as you need to cross a field to get to the church, and Twinkle with its narrow wheels is not exactly good at off-roading. And the track leading to the church comes out onto the very busy main road right in the middle of a sequence of tight bends.

So, you will need to go to the Sussex section to enjoy this one
