The village of Hinxhill consists of just a handful of houses, A large mansion called Hinxhill Court, and a lovely church that was locked today. I will return when I can
St. Mary's church
Until I gain access to the interior, I have taken some shots of the rather sweet lych-gate, which was gifted to the church by the children of the rector, Rev. John Philpott
Under the canopy, on each side, is a little fold-down seat, for the use of any who need it.
"Rest for the weary, in the land of the living"
In 2002, the roof of the gate was re-shingled by donations from the Friends of St. Mary's Hinxhill, and their names were carved onto the backs of the shingles, and their efforts are celebrated with this plaque:
