CORS DYFI

Cors Dyfi is 3.5 miles south west of Machynlleth on the A487 Abersytwyth road.

Cors Dyfi (Dyfi bog) is a wonderful little nature reserve that is teeming with wildlife for most of the year. This is where the Dyfi Osprey Project is situated.
Once estuary, reclaimed grazing, then conifer plantation and finally wildlife-rich wetland, the land at Cors Dyfi has seen many changes over the last few hundred years. Today the reserve is a healthy mixture of bog, swamp, wet woodland and scrub supporting a plethora of animals and plants, including the magnificent Osprey, which bred on the reserve for the first time in 2011. If you're lucky, you may also spot an otter, beaver or dormouse!
You really can't miss the location of the mobile home park next door:

I've been following the yearly summer saga of the oispreys for a few years now, looking forward to their return in March, and keeping with them until their September departures for points south.
First it was Monty and Nora, then Monty and Glesni, Monty and Telyn, and now Idris and Telyn, as well as regular updates  on other ospreys in the UK - some offspring of the above.

What started off in a small wooden shack, has grown over the years into an observatory, a couple of hides, and lately a beautiful visitor centre, complete with caffi. And although the amazing water buffalos who used to keep thr scrub down on the reserve have long gone into retirement, we now have beavers to watch.

If you want to follow the happenings in the summer months too, you can do so on their YouTube channel here
